As most of you know, at Christmastime I love to compose a little rhyming verse with a festive theme and send it off to friends and family. I’m also prone to creating a corny illustration as pictured below. I’ve been doing this for years, and the tradition delights me. So, here you go for this year. I wish you all a lovely Christmas season and the very best in the coming year.

It’s Christmas and it’s tinsel time

The tree is wrapped and trussed.

They’ve all come home, and all look fine

You’ve gone to all that fuss.

With garlands, lights, and bulbs of glass

A festive guarantee.

The fairy lights, they shine en masse,

A homey POTPOURRI.

But it’s Christmas time, exhausting too:

What have you forgotten?

A gift, a card, a stray to-do?

Some critical instruction?

Your gut is in an odd melee.

Your head is on the blink.

If you could only get away…

Escape — a quiet drink.

Breathe deeply now and look around.

Take in all this splendour.

Allow yourself to be spellbound,

Snug and soft and tender.

It’s Christmas and it’s tinsel time,

Let go, get loose, surrender.

They’ve all come home, and all look fine

Blessed be December.
